Padma Lakshmi Bio

Padma Parvati Lakshmi was conceived in Chennai, India on September 1, 1970. Lakshmi had her parents divorce when she was two years old. To escape the stigma of divorce in India, her mother moved to the United States. Lakshmi stayed with her maternal grandparents in Chennai two years before making the move to the United States. She has a younger half-brother on her father's side and an older sister. Both of her parents later divorced. Lakshmi shares her name with the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity. She was born in New York, then moved to Los Angeles with her stepfather and mother. Each year she returned to India to visit family members for several more months. Padma Lakshmi began to be attracted to acting in 1999. The first film she acted in was "Figlio of Sandokan" which was a film about an Italian pirate. Then, she was an important role in 'Caraibi' (Pirates Blood Brothers), the drama about pirates of the 17th century. In 2001, she portrayed a humorous supporting role in the American film 'Glitter' as a disco singer. Padma is a mother of a child who is married to Adam Dell (a venture capitalist). Krishna was born on February 20, the 20th of February, 2010. She also got married to Teddy Forstmann who is the former chairman and CEO of IMG. Lakshmi and American venture capitalist Adam Dell have a daughter, Krishna. Lakshmi eventually revealed the identity of her father to her child, though she kept it a secret at first.
